This week saw an irrepressible 1970s style sofa re-upholstered in 21st century best quality flame retardant "Linwood" fabric. So much of the furniture designed in the 1970s was about breaking with tradition and making new shapes that were bravely different from accepted practice. So it was with this sofa, which features arms curved in two planes, making the pattern matching a painstaking and highly skilled process. The rolled back cushion is also very unusual and presented challenges of its own during the re-upholstery process. The sofa was totally stripped back to the frame and all existing interiors (i.e. seats, backs and arms) were replaced with best quality flame retardant "Reflex" interiors, which carry a ten-year guarantee. They were also wrapped in a secondary casing, comprising Dacron and stockinette, to prolong cushion life. "Reflex" interiors ensure maximum comfort, quality and durability. Although the seat, lumber and headrest interiors are of firm density, the design makes it incredibly comfortable. Therefore, the sofa was completely restored to "as new" condition and our clients were delighted.
