Image: 927 - Restoration of Victorian armchair

This week also saw this splendid and much-loved Victorian armchair in our workshop for re-upholstery. Owing to its great age and many years of use, the chair needed full renovation so it was first stripped back to the frame and made good before replacing all the interiors with best quality flame retardant materials to make sure that the finished result would be in "as new" condition.

The existing seat cushion interior was replaced with a best quality flame retardant "Reflex" interior, which carries a ten year guarantee. It was also wrapped in a secondary casing, comprising Dacron and stockinette, to prolong cushion life.

Finally, the chair was re-covered in a best quality flame retardant abstract tapestry, redolent of designs popular when the chair was new, but also very modern, giving the chair a timeless charm that will last for years.

The client, who has brought furniture to us in the past remarked that as always, the standard of work was first class. We look forward to seeing her again when she next requires a piece of furniture re-upholstering.
