Image: 587 - Mix and match upholstery fabrics for great effect
Just because a suite of furniture occupies the same space, it doesn't mean that all the pieces have to be covered in the same fabric. There are some amazing complementary fabric designs available, co-ordinated to look great by contrasting with each other. This customer made the most of just such fabric combinations for their two piece suite.

This week we completely re-upholstered one two piece suite, comprising one two seater sofa and one reclining armchair, in two complementary "Christina Marrone" fabrics. Our clients chose a floral patterned fabric for their sofa and a striped fabric from the same range for their reclining armchair. It worked beautifully and looked fantastic in their lounge.

We also replaced existing seat cushion interiors with best quality flame retardant "Reflex" interiors, which carry a ten-year guarantee. They were also wrapped in a secondary casing, comprising Dacron and stockinette, to prolong cushion life. Existing "Fibre-fill" back cushion interiors were replaced with new best quality flame retardant "Fibre-fill" interiors. The combination of "Reflex" and "Fibre-fill" ensures maximum quality, comfort and durability.

Both pieces were generally renovated and re-worked, as and where necessary, using best quality flame retardant interiors, to ensure both pieces are restored to "as new" condition. Lastly, both pieces were finished with a hand-stitched flat skirt.

Our clients also asked us to make one set of armcaps to protect the arms of their furniture.

The result? Our clients "loved it and said it looked like brand new!" Praise indeed.

The highlight of my working week is delivering renovated and re-upholstered furniture back to clients and seeing, and hearing, how thrilled they are with the finished result.
