Image: 1586 - Two Sofas in Contrasting Fabrics
The two fabrics chosen by this client make a stunning combination Although not from the same ranges they work beautifully together for a result that is bold and eyecatching, yet sophisticated, redolent of some bold, art deco designs on the cushions, contrasting with the subtle grey of the body and arms. The fabrics concerned were a best quality, flame retardant "Romo" crushed fabric for the bodies of the sofas and a bold "Sanderson" fabric for the seat backs and cushions. As with all strongly patterned fabrics, meticulous care and attention to detail are needed to make sure of a perfect pattern match. To begin, both sofas were stripped back to the frame to make sure that the finsished upholstery was on a good foundation so that an "as new" result could be assured. Then the existing seat cushion interiors were replaced with best quality flame retardant “Reflex” interiors. These carry a ten-year guarantee. The cushions were also wrapped in a secondary casing, comprising Dacron and stockinette, to prolong cushion life. We also replaced existing back cushion interiors with best quality flame retardant “Fibre-fill” interiors. The combination of “Reflex” and “Fibre-fill” ensures maximum comfort, quality and durability. As a finishing touch, four bolsters were made, with best quality flame retardant “Fibre-fill” interiors. They were given a rolled edge, which perfectly finished the look.
