Image: 1284 - Conservatory chairs re-upholstered in candy stripe
This week we completely re-upholstered a number of different pieces of furniture for the same client. Firstly, two conservatory chairs were completely restored. Having been stripped back to the bare frames, the seat bases were re-sprung and fully upholstered. This solid foundation ensures that the finished work will be "as new". The eyecatching candy stripe fabric that the client chose is a best quality, flame-retardant "Ross" product that not only looks and feels great, but is also very easy to clean and will keep its good looks for many years to come. We also replaced existing seat cushions with best quality flame retardant "Reflex" interiors, which carry a ten year guarantee. The cushion interiors were also wrapped in a secondary casing, comprising Dacron and stockinette to prolong cushion life. Existing back cushion interiors were also replaced with best quality flame retardant "Fibre-fill" interiors. The combination of "Reflex" and "Fibre-fill" interiors ensures maximum comfort, quality and durability. Moving from the conservatory to the dining room, the next job for this client was to completely re-upholster eight dining room chairs in contrasting best quality, flame-retardant "Romo" crushed fabrics. These are ideal for dining room furniture as they are "Teflon" coated, stain resistant and washable. Even the odd spill, which can happen in the best of families, will be shrugged off, so that the chairs will keep their good looks for many years to come. The customer also took this opportunity to have us raise the seat height on the chairs for greater comfort. The upholstered backs were added at the same time, as originally only the seats were upholstered. Once again, this increased the comfort of the chairs, then the whole lot was finished with some elegant French piping. Lastly, we completely re-upholstered one lift-top footstool in a best quality flame retardant "Warwick" striped chenille fabric . We also made a slip-cover, in the same fabric, to protect the top of the footstool, the photograph shows the footstool with the slip-cover in place. The footstool was stripped back to the frame and all interiors replaced with best quality flame retardant interiors to ensure it was completely restored to "as new". Our client was over the moon and was particularly happy with her "new" dining chairs and said they were so much more comfortable than when they were new!
