It is always nice to be given a free hand when mixing and matching bold fabrics to echo the era from which this chair came. The fact that it has been in the client's family for over 60 years, speaks volumes for the trust that they put in us. The client chose three contrasting fabrics, all best quality chenille to accentuate the classic lines of the recliner while giving it a modern twist. First of all, the armchair was stripped back to the frame and all interiors replaced with best quality flame retardant interiors to ensure it was restored to "as new" condition, making it every bit as comfortable and durable as it is beautiful. We then applied the cerise, self coloured chenille fabric to the insides of the arms and the cushions, with the striped fabric on the footstool. The third pattern, an abstract check in very bold colours, was applied to the sides and base of the chair, with a section being revealed when the footstool is extended. The scalloped arms of this reclining armchair are a particularly nice feature, and had to be perfect as any mis-matching would be glaringly obvious here. In fact, all round, with such bold fabrics, pattern matching had to be meticulous to get the desired effect. Our client said she was absolutely delighted with her "new" reclining armchair and said it was "stunning". What a great way to end our working year!
